Expertise
Alex Moriarty is a highly experienced commercial litigation and insolvency lawyer, with significant experience in running very complex matters on the Supreme Court of Queensland’s commercial and supervised case lists, and in the Federal Court.
As a key partner in TressCox’s commercial litigation division, and based in Brisbane, Alex works closely with clients to understand their needs and to develop and then deliver superior legal advice and strategy for resolving any legal and commercial difficulties. In Court and in dispute resolution, he focuses on achieving successful outcomes for his clients as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Alex has more than 10 years’ experience practising in insolvency law, in both Brisbane and Sydney. He has advised both external controllers and company directors on all aspects of large corporate work-outs and collapses. He has a broad and deep understanding of the myriad issues and special legal and commercial difficulties that can face insolvency practitioners, debtors, secured and unsecured creditors and company directors under Australia’s insolvency law regime.
By reason of TressCox’s role as the AMAQ’s preferred legal provider, Alex is an experienced advisor to the medical profession and understands the special legal issues that can arise in both private and public medical practice. He also represents doctors in their dealings with the Medical Board of Australia and in challenging doctors’ registration decisions.
When he's not in Court, you can find Alex jogging in the Botanic Gardens or riding his bike to and from work.
Alex Moriarty was selected for inclusion in the Asia Pacific Legal 500 (2011/12 & 2012/13) for Restructuring & Insolvency.
