Expertise
Scott has extensive experience in Health Law and heads the firm’s national Health Services Group. Scott advises a number of major health institutions, in particular the Australian Medical Association (NSW) Limited and the Australasian Day Surgery Association Ltd. Scott also conducts defence litigation for a number of major medical insurers including United Medical Protection Limited and the Medical Defence Union Ltd.
Scott has handled many significant cases including AMA (NSW) -v- The Minister for Health, ADF Limited -v- The Department of Treasury and the Special Commission of Inquiry into Campbelltown and Camden Hospitals (‘Walker Inquiry’). Scott’s expertise and experience includes risk management, business structures and governance, corporatisation of medical practices, negotiations with government health departments, medical malpractice litigation and disciplinary proceedings.
