ADDENDUM - THE INDEPENDENT CONTRACTORS ACT AND UNFAIR CONTRACT CLAIMS

At the time of assent the unfair contract provisions under the Independent Contractors Act 2006 were to commence on 11 June 2007 (or such earlier date as may be proclaimed). At the time of publication, no earlier date had been proclaimed.

On 15 February 2007 the Governor General proclaimed that the relevant provisions of the Independent Contractors Act 2006 will commence on 1 March 2007.

Regulations have also been made which commence on 1 March 2007 (Independent Contractors Regulations 2007).
